The Impossible Forest
Years of studying the artifact led me to the exact location, at just the right moment. As I aimed my telescope toward the nexus of all intersections, I saw the strangest figure waving back. Not what I expected, but ok.
Through my telescope, I could see the branches of an impossible forest waving in the language of the ancients, singing songs about the invisible sun and rain. I witnessed mechanical rabbits overrun the forest and devour half the foliage while leaving the un-grazed half to grow new branches and roots.
I watched as the robots replaced every other Impossible branch with a rabbit hole --> From each rabbit hole would emerge a humanoid-plant-clone --> perhaps these beings were the key to finding the missing astrological sign --> but then again --> I doubt any of them could time travel.
The Post-Forest Forest
My disbelief melts into horror as seconds later I see the forest-mind emerge. A network of branches, so nectar-dense that until now, were thought to be impossible.
I turned my attention away from these new revelations. I set my telescope down. Grandpa's premonition had come to pass. One last crystal key would complete the set, and I now knew where to look.
